Permanent vs Impermanent considers architectural method and process to create an impermanent ornamental layer over the permanent presence of an iconic building. The current phase of the project brings dance to the exterior facade of the building, using visual rhythm and abstract references to contemporary dance techniques.

Artistic Notes

Rudolf Laban & Merce Cunningham deconstructed their contemporary dance practice as if it were pieced together like architectural practice. Kandinsky made similar deconstructions to his visual art. This project looks at architectural method & process to create an impermanent ornamental layer over the permanent presence of an iconic building. The activity in the building during Dance Massive focuses on dance, so I aim to bring that activity to the exterior facade of the building using visual rhythm & abstract references to contemporary dance techniques.
